Summer is finally here! Wondering what to do with all this daylight and beautiful weather? Check out this list for some ideas of how to enjoy the summer days right here in Wilmington, DE. 

Summer Events

St. Anthony’s Italian Festival – Running June 11th-18th, St. Anthony of Padua Parish sponsors this summer event in order to raise money for their grade school. The festival not only provides typical entertainment like amusement rides and games, but more unique Italian cultural activities like the St. Anthony’s Feast Day procession and even a home winemakers competition!

Clifford Brown Jazz Festival – June 21-24th in Rodney Square, the Clifford Brown Jazz Festival is celebrated annually in honor of its namesake, who was a brilliant trumpet player and composer. Experience the joy of jazz with different artists every day. Check out their website to see the line-up!

Ice Cream Festival – I scream, you scream, we all scream…for the Ice Cream Festival on June 24th! This summer event at Rockwood Park features not only locally made ice cream, but live music, museum tours, and even fireworks. Admission is $5 and free for children under 12 with an adult. 

Delaware Burger Battle – Nothing says summer like an outdoor barbecue. Celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Delaware Burger Battle this August 26th at Rockford Park. Once you’ve entered, enjoy (and judge) endless burgers and adult beverages or soft drinks. Buy your all-inclusive tickets now before they sell-out!

Summer Attractions

Riverwalk Mini Golf – You don’t have to be at the beach to play mini-golf by the water! This 18-hole course roams along the Wilmington Riverfront, with scenic waterside views. Stop by the golf shack after your game to try one of their 9 flavors of soft-serve ice cream! They are cashless. 

Paradise Tiki Tours Boat

Delaware Children’s Museum – A great place to take the kids (or a youthful adult) that’s fun AND enriching! This museum welcomes children from diverse backgrounds with the purpose of developing their creative minds through interactive exhibits and programming. Find out more on their Instagram!

Paradise Tiki Tours – Searching for a taste of the tropics? Paradise Tiki Tours boasts a custom built tiki boat with a full bar, so you can enjoy your favorite tropical cocktail without ever leaving Delaware. Check out their website to see the events departing from Wilmington!

Concerts at The Queen or The Grand – If you’re a fan of live music, there are tons of summer performances to check out at Wilmington’s top venues: The Queen and The Grand. The Queen features a state-of-the-art music hall to party in, while The Grand is more classical.  Check out both websites to see their upcoming shows!

Fort Cristina – Get ready to time travel! Fort Cristina is a blast from Delaware’s past that is only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Come explore the area where the first Swedish and Finnish settlers landed to begin their lives in America.  

Winterthur Museum, Garden, & Library – The 1,000 acre grounds of Winterthur boast a mansion with a huge collection of American decorative arts in addition to a beautiful natural landscape. Their Enchanted Woods are the perfect place to appreciate the magic of summertime. 


Downtown Farmers’ Market – Head down to Rodney Square for the weekly Downtown Farmers’ Market, every Wednesday from 10am-2pm. Enjoy the vibrancy of downtown with live entertainment, fresh produce, and prepared food, rain or shine!

Summer Nights at Hagley – Every Wednesday from 5-8pm this summer, come to the Hagley Museum and Library visitor center to enjoy a stroll along the Brandywine. Complete with Dogfish Head craft beer and Woodside Farm creamery ice cream, there’s something for everyone. Admission is $5 and free for Hagley members. 

Detox + Retox Yoga – Wednesdays from 6-8pm, The Quoin Hotel is hosting a yoga program that satisfies the angel and devil on your shoulders. Pure Yoga Pilates Studio teaches an hour yoga class which is followed up by cocktails and snacks on the roof of The Quoin. $30 covers all.
