Event Recap: the 12th Wilmington Grand Prix

Wilmington’s largest street fair was this past weekend where people from all over the country came to celebrate the 12th annual Wilmington Grand Prix. While the race is the main event, Wilmington, Delaware came together to celebrate all over the city.

The race weekend kicked off Friday night with the Monkey Hill Time Trial, a 3.2-mile race against the clock through Wilmington’s Brandywine Park.

Saturday morning started with two amateur races, and the afternoon featured a women’s and men’s pro race on a 1-mile, eight-corner “figure-8” course. Spectators were also treated to a street festival that offered cafes and sidewalk sales, that they could peruse in between the action.

Local restaurants also got in on the action by creating Grand Prix-themed dishes and specials. From Chelsea’s Tavern to Bardea- race friendly food was abundant throughout Wilmington’s food scene.
