#PeopleOfWilmDE: Tom Santora

Tom Santora is the Director of Conference Services at the HOTEL DU PONT and is this week’s #PeopleOfWilmDE! Read his story below.

“I’ve lived in Wilmington 58 years and have worked at the HOTEL DU PONT for 41 years. I was born and raised in the Highlands area of the city, and loved growing up next to Rockford Park. I’ve never wanted to leave the area! I started at the HOTEL DU PONT with a job in housekeeping, and grew from there to where I am today.

I continue to live and work in Wilmington because of my deep roots to the community,  the traditions within the city, and family. We’re a small town that has everything a big city does.

My favorite events in Wilmington are the St. Anthony’s Italian Festival and the Wilmington Flower Market. My ideal night out in Wilmington would start with Friday night drinks at Torbert Social, followed by dinner at Le Cavalier, and end the evening at Catherine Rooney’s

I’m really excited to see the rebirth of downtown that’s been going on over the past few years. There so many new people moving back into the city! I would like to see a big University presence in the city in the future.

One of my proudest moments as a Wilmingtonian was meeting the Queen of Sweden when she visited for the 350th Anniversary of Fort Christina.”

Tom was nominated as a #PeopleOfWilmDE by Jessica Bittman. To nominate next week’s #PeopleOfWilmDE, email us at info@wilmtoday.com.
