#PeopleOfWilmDE: Jill Moyer

Jill Moyer is a corporate event planner at Lincoln Financial Group and one of our newest It’s Time reporters! Read her story as this week’s #PeopleOfWilmDE!

“Born and raised in Delaware, I knew this small state would be the place I call home for the foreseeable future. After graduating from the University of Delaware and landing a full-time job, I was ready to go out and live on my own. I had fallen in love with the Wilmington Riverfront at a young age and set my sights on living here. With a view of the river from my living room window, it truly doesn’t get any better than that!

My ideal weekend in Wilmington would consist of grabbing coffee from Faire Cafe and heading out on a walk. I would relax the rest of the day, maybe grabbing lunch at Iron Hill. My night out in Wilmington would start with a cocktail at either Merchant Bar or The Quoin Rooftop. Then, making my way over to Farmer and The Cow for a delectable burger (That’s What Brie Said is a 10/10)  and a boozy milkshake. After that, I’d head home, grab my pup and head to Constitution Yards to relax along the water while listening to live music.

My favorite Wilmington attraction is the Riverfront (surprise, surprise). I always loved being along the water, and the benefits of being near a city, the Riverfront combines both of those!

3 interesting facts about me are:

  1. I met Selena Gomez in 2011 (lol)
  2. Working at Lincoln Financial Group, I sometimes get to work from the Eagles Stadium.
  3. I have not grown a single inch since I was 11 years old!

Wilmington has helped me be where I am in many ways! I’ve met many new people and been able to combine work through this campaign with my love of exploring new places (especially restaurants) and new experiences. I am excited for my community and professional experiences to grow in the years to come.

I am extremely excited about summer in Wilmington. I love the way summer feels in this city! Being able to be outside at community events or even just dining outside are some of my favorite things.

I continue to choose to live in Wilmington because of all the city has to offer. Whether I want to go for a hike, grab a cocktail at a fancy restaurant, or go see a baseball game, Wilmington has everything I am looking for!

One of my proudest moments as a Wilmingtonian is being able to be a part of the It’s Time Campaign. I am so proud of having the opportunity to show others how truly awesome this city can be! Getting to explore and meet so many great individuals through the work I do has been such a rewarding experience.

As a newer resident of Wilmington, I would love to see our city continue to be recognized for all its greatness. No city is perfect, but Wilmington is truly great. I think if we continue to celebrate the diversity the city has to offer, it will only be better off for it. I would also love to see walkability become a focus. Having the different neighborhoods be separate can sometimes make it hard to walk from place to place.

My biggest advice is to get out and explore! Being from Delaware, I never realized how much our city has to offer and after living here for only a year, there is still so much left for me to experience. There is something for everyone here!
