Stormin’ Norman Oliver has been changing lives one turkey at a time. 36 years ago you would find Norman handing out Thanksgiving meals to the homeless around Wilmington. From then the program has grown exponentially.

 

 

With 6,000 turkeys in tow on Tuesday, November 20th, 2018, Norman went out to families, Boys and Girls Clubs and various churches throughout the state of Delaware. With a team of volunteers, they unloaded the turkeys all morning on.

 

This was the biggest year so far. The program inspired Food Lion to donate over 3,000 turkeys. Norman and the volunteers also got a police escort around the state.

 

“Everybody comes together for this turkey drive,” Oliver said. “It’s kind of incredible.”

 

This year, Stormin’ Norman has garnered national attention by being part of AOL’s Holiday Heros series. Watch the video on the local hero below:
