Will McGough, an international travel writer, published the article, “Big spotlight on Biden’s little Delaware” on January 17th on CNN.com.
The article begins by sighting the excitement from locals around the 2019 release of hip-hop artist Matthew Pierce’s song, “Park Tour Delaware” and remarking, “imagine how Delawareans are feeling now that President-elect Joe Biden — who frequents some of the establishments mentioned in Pierce’s song — has turned the eyes of the world to the First State.”
The article goes on to outline Delaware through various lenses. The first, “Getting to know Wilmington through Biden” outlines some Biden history, and highlights The Queen and The Hotel DuPont where the president-elect has been hosting his transition operations, Biden’s favorite food stops in Wilmington, namely Café Verdi, Piccolina Toscana, Capriotti’s, and Charcoal Pit, and a shoutout to Wilmington Brew Works for their Double IPA “Rail Car One.”
The second section, “A ‘place for all’ in Biden’s Rehoboth Beach,” talks about the history, and progressiveness of Rehoboth Beach and some of its programming, noting Sundance and Women’s Fest, as well as highlighting local businesses and attractions, Browseabout Books, Lori’s Café, Double Dippers Ice Cream Shop, Cape Henlopen State Park, as well as the great Grotto’s vs. Nicola’s Pizza debate.
The final section, “Going beyond Biden in Wilmington” gives major highlights to the Riverfront, mainly due to its proximity to the Wilmington Amtrak Station. Businesses and attractions highlighted include Tubman-Garrett Park, The DuPont Environmental Education Center, Iron Hill, Constitution Yards, The Riverfront Market, Banks Seafood, Big Fish Grill, and Drop Squad Kitchen.
