A clear message from John Rago, the Mayor’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Communications. “We are already in contact with some of our other economic development partners in the state, because in Delaware we work together to make things happen. This is an exciting opportunity and we are putting together a good case for why Amazon would find Wilmington to be a welcoming and supportive home for the company’s headquarters.”
Amazon HQ2 will be their second in North America. Analysts expect the investment to be over $5 billion in construction and grow to include as many as 50,000 high-paying jobs – a full equal to their current campus in Seattle. In addition to Amazon’s direct hiring and investment, construction and ongoing operation of Amazon HQ2 is expected to create tens of thousands of additional jobs and tens of billions of dollars in additional investment in the surrounding community.
