Learn More About Mindfulness With Governor Carney Thanks To Delaware Changing Lives

Delaware Changing Lives Celebration April 29th, 2019 1:30 pm to 4 pm at Kingswood Community Center.

Update: The Delaware Changing Lives Event, Scheduled for Wednesday, February 20th, 2019 from 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm at Kingswood Community Center has been rescheduled for Monday, April 29th from 1:30 pm – 4 pm.

Mindfulness: It is much more than meditation and yoga. It is being aware of where we are and what we are doing. It’s trying not to overreact or feel overwhelmed by what is going on around us. Sounds simple right? For some, it doesn’t come naturally, it is a learned skill, and Delaware is leading the charge in changing people’s lives through mindful practices. Delaware Changing Lives, a Delaware Collaboration of GIFT Global, is spearheading a large percentage of this work.

More About Delaware Changing Lives

Delaware Changing Lives is a coalition created by GIFT to serve as a model for social innovation and change utilizing mindfulness technologies. The organization’s mission is to make mindfulness training and help accessible to underserved populations. They also focus on training helping professionals so that they’ll have mindfulness practice to reduce their stress and burnout levels. During that training, they also learn how they can then share mindfulness with the people they serve. Currently, the organization is focused on schools, mental health providers/agencies, veterans, and non-profit agencies.

What’s going on at KCC?

On April 29th head to Kingswood Community Center to celebrate the First State’s success in trauma recovery, education on emotional management, positive expression of feelings and goals, along with showing empathy for others through action and conversation (also known as Social- Emotional Learning). Join Governor Carney, Senator Coons, Senator Carper, Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester, Lieutenant Governor Bethany Hall-Long, and Mayor Mike Purzycki to learn how to be more mindful and about the local initiatives bringing positive change to the community.

This event has a jam-packed agenda ranging from learning about mindfulness in higher education and in the nonprofit sector to a behavior health consortium and the launch of Delaware Changing Live’s website, created by local company TAPP Network.
