Delaware Innovation Week 2018: What To Do In Wilmington

With the Halloween season coming to a close it can be hard to find something fun to do in the following week. Lucky for us in Wilmington, there is a jam-packed week of events coming up. One of the biggest statewide events is Delaware Innovation Week brought to us by Technical.ly. Running from Friday, Nov. 2nd until Friday, Nov. 9th, this event is celebrating its 4th year and is bigger than ever before. With Networking opportunities in business, to coding classes, Women in Innovation and Technology day, and even high school robotics, there is something to do every day this coming week in Wilmington. DiW2018 Kickoff Party

  • WHEN: Friday, Nov. 2nd, 2018, from 5–8 p.m.
  • WHERE: Delaware College of Art and Design (DCAD), 600 N Market St, Wilmington, DE 19801
  • WHAT: This year, Technical.ly is starting off Delaware Innovation week with our first ever Kickoff event in conjunction with Delaware College of Art and Design’s monthly art gallery open house. We will be gathering local businesses and organizations for one big celebration of Delaware. It will be a  glimpse of what’s in store for the remainder of event days on our Delaware Innovation Week community calendar. Tech, art, and networking? What is better? Join us on November 2nd from 5 pm – 8 pm in DCAD’s huge second-floor open floor space in downtown Wilmington.

FIRST Robotics at Delaware Innovation Week

  • WHEN: Sunday, Nov. 4th, 2018, from 1 pm – 5 pm
  • WHERE: Kingswood Community Center, 2300 Bowers St, Wilmington, DE 19802
  • WHAT: Come to an afternoon showcasing local students participating in the international robotics competition, FIRST. This event will have a scrimmage for local FIRST Tech Challenge teams playing the 2019 game, Rover Ruckus. This event is open to people of all ages. Besides watching and driving student designed and built robots, learn basic engineering concepts in interactive workshops running ever half hour to an hour.

The Boss Brainstorm

  • WHEN: Sunday, Nov. 4th, 2018, from 2 pm – 4 pm
  • WHERE: Delaware Art Museum, 2301 Kentmere Pkwy, Wilmington, DE 19806
  • WHAT: The Boss Brainstorm is a collaborative effort of small business owners and entrepreneurs bringing their knowledge of business operations and day-to-day tactics.

Great Dames Remarkable Ideas Pitch Competition Winner Announcement

  • WHEN: Monday, Nov. 5th, 2018, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
  • WHERE: Harry’s Savoy Grill & Ballroom, 2020 Naamans Rd, Wilmington, DE 19810
  • WHAT: Meet the winner of the 2018 Great Dames Remarkable Ideas Pitch Competition, who will receive a $25,000 winner package of cash and business services. New this year, Remarkable Youth Pitches — teen girls will present one-minute pitches of their innovative ideas. Audience members get a vote. DE Lt Gov Bethany Hall-Long will announce the winner of the adult and youth pitch competitions. Come support women and girls with remarkable ideas to solve important problems.

Business Conference

  • WHEN: Tuesday, Nov. 6th, 2018, 9:30 am – 3:00 pm
  • WHERE: Emerging Enterprise Center co-located at the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce 920 Justison Street, Wilmington, DE 19801
  • WHAT: During this event, you will hear from a panel of experts discussing how they leveraged their own network and Delaware community for their personal or professional growth. You will also be able to catch a glimpse into the minds of Delaware’s big businesses and how to access the diverse and small business supply chain. We will also have a portion of speed networking to make new connections IRL. Bring those business cards and get excited.

DIW18 Happy Hour

  • WHEN: Wednesday, Nov. 7th, 2018, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
  • WHERE: Stitch House Brewery 829 N Market Street, Wilmington, DE 19801
  • WHAT: Let’s gather the Delaware Dev and Business community for one large happy hour and networking event.

DEV Workshops and Talks

  • WHEN: Wednesday, Nov. 7th, 2018, 10:30 am – 5:30 pm
  • WHERE: Delaware Technical Community College – Wilmington Campus 300 N Orange Street 19801
  • WHAT:
    • Workshops run from 10:30 am until 2:00 pm. Whether you’re new to programming or wanting to sharpen your skills, the Dev Workshops are perfect for you. Workshops will be focused around today’s most used languages and programs. Select ONE focused workshop and spend over three hours in class with an expert, learning the basics in these hands-on workshops.
    • DEV talks go from 2:00 pm – 5:30 pm. With a mix of case studies and a panel discussion, speakers will present talks focused around today’s trending problem-solving tools and innovative solutions. You will hear about topics on cloud technologies, machine learning, and blockchain.

Open for Business

  • WHEN: Thursday, Nov. 8th, 2018, 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm
  • WHERE: Emerging Enterprise Center co-located at the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce 920 Justison Street 19801
  • WHAT: Join us for our Open for Business sessions held at 920 Justison Street and meet with representatives from our partner organizations. Collectively, these organizations provide a range of services that help start-ups advance their business model, reach potential customers, land government contracts, secure loans, meet state regulatory requirements and generally mentor entrepreneurs striking out on their own for the first time.

Is Your Idea Ready to Go to Market?

TAPP Network Presents: 1st Annual Women in Innovation and Technology Day

How to Find an Investor for Your Startup?
