Buccini/Pollin Group announced the launch of a 3-week paid internship program in real estate development, affectionately named “BPG U”. The initiative will educate eight local high school students on acquisitions, finance, leasing, marketing, and operations. With a focus on professional development, the goal of the internship program is to expose students to a variety of potential careers and connect them with pathways for future employment.

The program will begin June 21, 2021 and run through July 13, 2021. Applications are open until 11:59 PM on May 9th. The internship will take place in-person at BPG’s headquarters in Downtown Wilmington. Students must be a current junior or senior at a Delaware high school to be eligible. No prior experience is required, and applicants must complete a formal interview to be one of the final eight chosen to participate.

During the 3 weeks, the eight interns will complete a development project and present their final development plan to BPG’s leadership team. They will additionally learn about the corporate environment and social skills in the workplace. Upon completion of the internship, they will leave with a portfolio of work to present to potential future employers.

Goodwill of Delaware, Delaware Pathways, and Reach Riverside will also help to connect teens to BPG U, with the goal to source talent from a diverse pool of high school applicants, especially those who would benefit from a college preparatory experience.

“As leaders in our community, we want to use our platform and resources as a positive force for change in Wilmington,” said De’Joun Lee, BPG U Program Coordinator. “While developing the program, we searched for other local companies with similar internship opportunities, but could not find anything comparable to what we plan to achieve. In the future, we hope BPG U will serve as a model for neighboring companies to adopt in an effort to express their commitment to the youth of our community.”
