It’s Time to Get Out Around Town on the Riverfront!

The sun is out, the weather is warming up, and Summer is just around the corner; IT’S TIME to get out of your house and the Riverfront is calling your name! As a part of our “It’s Time to G.O.A.T” series (Get Out Around Town!) with InWilm and Out & About, we are featuring your guide to fun activities in different neighborhoods in Wilmington!

Come explore this industrial wasteland turned thriving destination filled with recreational, cultural, retail and culinary attractions. There are 1.3 miles of ground to cover, so we highlighted some of our favorite places to get you started!

It’s Time to Eat and Drink

1.Docklands – After a long week what’s better than a night out with live music?! Docklands offers a wide assortment of entrees and happy hour specials all week and they are now open until 1 am Fridays and Saturdays offering live music all night long! Check out their Instagram to see who’s playing!

2. Iron Hill Brewery – Nothing compares to an ice cold beer on a hot day! Come to Iron Hill Brewery to enjoy food, drinks, and locally brewed craft beers! You don’t want to miss out on the dining with an exquisite view of the water, intimate bar area, and an outdoor patio with live music and a full bar.

Big Fish Grill

3. Big Fish Grill – It wouldn’t be a day on the water without some seafood! Big Fish Grill is a Delaware seafood restaurant that is perfect if you are looking for a family friendly atmosphere, sports, entertainment and delicious food. Go check out their Instagram.

4. Del Pez – Margaritas? Yes please! Del Prez is a traditional pub with a diverse menu that celebrates flavors of Latin America and Mexico. You need to look at their craft beers and creative margarita menu! They have about 40 different tequilas…yup you read that right! Head to their Instagram for more info.

5. Riverfront Market – Not sure what you want to eat? Riverfront Market has you covered! Come to this 10,000 square foot restored warehouse to find vendors selling everything from fresh produce to coffee and even pizza and sushi! Whether it’s lunch or dinner, the Riverfront Market is the place to go, and there is even free two hour parking!

6. Timothy’s – If you are craving wings Timothy’s is the place for you! Voted “Best wings and best happy hour in Delaware”, Timothy’s is the place for American food, sports and spirits. They even have happy hour EVERY DAY! You definitely need to check out their Instagram!

7. Ubon – With recipes passed down through three generations, get ready for your mouth to water with the fusion of traditional Thai food with a modern influence at Ubon! Head on over for lunch, dinner, or an evening out with delicious Thai food and vibrant nightlife! View their Instagram!

8. Riverfront Bakery – The sweet treats at Riverfront Bakery you do not want to miss! In their open kitchen you can watch the baker making fresh pastries as the smell of the pastries fill the air. They have plenty of seating including an outside terrace and a great view of the boardwalk. Their instagram looks delicious! 

It’s Time to Explore

1.Delaware Contemporary – If you’re an art fan, then the Delaware Contemporary is the place for you! The Delaware Contemporary is the leading contemporary visual arts organization in the country! They have seven exhibition galleries, thirty artist studios and a cyber cafe! Check out their Instagram!

2. Delaware Theatre Company – Any theater lovers out there? You definitely need to check out the Delaware Theatre Company! It is Brandywine Valley’s only resident professional theater where they have contemporary plays as well as new works from professional actors, directors, and designers. Riverwalk Mini Golf

3. Riverwalk Mini Golf – Grab your family and friends and head over to Riverwalk Mini Golf! It is currently open Wednesday-Sunday 3-9pm. While you are there, visit The Ice Cream Shack on the course for soft serve ice cream, water ice, and soft drinks!

4. Bike Rentals – Bike rentals are operating from the Riverwalk Mini Golf location, and will be open the same hours (Wednesday-Sunday, 3-9pm) You can rent a single bike for 1.5 hours for $12 or a full day for $25. The single bikes can be used to tour the Riverwalk, Environmental Education Center, and all through the Jack A Markell Trail down to Historic New Castle. You can also rent 4 person surreys that can be taken along the Riverwalk only. They are $25 for an hour.

5. Delaware Children’s Museum – The Delaware Children’s Museum is reopening on June 18th with no capacity limits! They are open Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am-5pm, and Thursday and Friday from 10am-8pm. Admission is $10, but on Thursday and Friday from 5-8pm it is only $5. These hours will be through Labor Day. Check out their instagram!

6. Riverfront Summer Concert Series – Who doesn’t love going to a concert? The Riverfront Summer Concert Series will begin on July 8th and run each Thursday in July and August from 7-8:30pm at Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park. The concerts are free, and will feature a different genre of local performer each week.

7. Jack A Markell Trail & Dupont Environmental Education Center – If you are looking for a place to hike, check out Jack A Markell Trail! Connecting the Riverfront and New Castle Battery Park this is a 7.9 mile trail perfect for a hiking or biking adventure! Also head over to the Dupont Environmental Education Center, a 13,500 square foot facility that showcases many species of amphibians, birds, mammals, fish, reptiles, and native plants. 8. Wilmington Blue Rocks & Fireworks –  Don’t miss out on a Wilmington Blue Rocks game at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium! The Blue Rocks are one of the most successful minor league teams and are the Carolina League Class A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals! They even have fireworks at every Friday home game! 9. Riv Athletics – No one ever regrets a workout! Stop by Riv Athletics at their 12,000+ square foot facility right at the Riverfront! They offer more than just CrossFit and showcase a close-knit community and positive attitude that makes working out more enjoyable! 10. New Water Attractions -There is not one but TWO new water attractions coming this year that you need to check out! One is a tour boat that offers scenic river tours and the other is a 49 person Tiki Boat offering happy hour cruises! You don’t want to miss out on this adventure, check out their websites for more information!

1.CSC Station – Tired of working from home? Then you need to check out CSC Station! CSC Station is a coworking space designed to elevate your business. They are conveniently located steps away from the Wilmington Train Station and the Riverfront. Check out their Instagram and watch our behind the scenes video!

2. Wilmington Train Station – The Wilmington Train Station has your travel needs covered! Whether you are coming or going, this station offers both Amtrak and SEPTA rail services steps away from the Riverfront and CSC Station! Need to book a train?  Check out this station!
