The Delaware Symphony Orchestra will return to Wilmington’s Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park July 4 for the city’s Independence Day celebration on the Riverfront — the first time the orchestra has participated since 2012.

Tradition will reign supreme with Delaware Symphony Orchestra focusing on American composers at the 8 p.m. show, which precedes the 9:30 p.m. fireworks display over the Christina River.

If you’ve always wanted to munch on popcorn while dancing to the Delaware Symphony Orchestra in a glow-in-the-dark onesie, this is the time. It kicks off at 12:30 p.m. with tours of the Kalmar Nyckel, local bands, food vendors and children’s games with Riverboat Queen and River Taxi cruises also available. Constitution Yards Beer Garden will feature Smyrna-based cover act Country By Night starting at 5 p.m., running until the fireworks begin.

Wilmington Blue Rocks Post-Game Fireworks

Ready for the ride of a lifetime? This year, you can watch the fireworks show at the Wilmington & Western Railroad! Perfect for not only the kids but adults alike! Starting at 7:00 PM, you can embark on a short train ride from the Greenbank Station to Hockessin for the annual fireworks show. The train will return at approximately 11 p.m. Purchase tickets in advance here.

For the ultimate package, and for an earlier start to the festivities, You might want to stop by the Hockessin Fourth of July festival! Starting at 2:30 PM, there’s sure to be something for all ages with a food truck festival which will provide all types of food options, activities for the kids such as games, live entertainment, and for the adults a full beer garden! But that’s not all! There will be a parade promptly at 3:00 PM and full fireworks show at dusk! Plus, there’s no better place to be launching off pyrotechnics than at the fire station itself!
