Break out the ‘brero’s, it’s Cinco de Mayo and Wilmington is bursting with flavor, fun, and fiesta! We’re serving Wilmington’s freshest guide to celebrating safely, and making sure you find all the fun with a side of chips and salsa. Here are the top celebrations taking place this Cinco de Mayo in Wilmington!

The Festivities begin Friday!

Friday, May 4th, 2018

2nd Annual Downtown Cinco de Mayo Festival

Ernest & Scott Taproom will host Wilmington’s 2nd annual Downtown Cinco de Mayo Festival from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. The popular, family-friendly street festival along the 900 block of North Market Street features a variety of Mexican food, a Margarita and Mojito Bar, and more than 30 street vendors and live music by June Divided, Chucky Santos and Hugo Cesar, among others. More than 1,300 people attended the inaugural festival last spring and over 2,000 are expected to attend this year for their biggest event yet!

General Admission tickets are $10. Children under 15 years old are free.

Parking will be available at The Mid-town Park Garage located at 805 N Orange Street for the special price of $4.00.

Fiesta Cinco de Mayo

People’s Festival Community Series Presents Fiesta Cinco De Mayo! Downtown Wilmington on Market Street, Saturday, May 5th 2-10 p.m. A full cultural explosion and The First Annual Miss Mexico Delaware Pageant for girls 6-9 and 14-18 years of age!

Don’t miss the Contestants Talent Presentations at 6 p.m. the winner of the Miss Mexico, Delaware title will be announced prior to the grand finale! Bring your family, friends and neighbors: Kiddy rides, Children’s Village, Community Pavilion, Live Art, Beer Garden, art, crafts, Margarita Tasting,

Street Taco Vendors, Mexican Food, Mariachi Band, Folkloric Dance, live bands and much more will make this another day of enrichment, and fun in the sun for the whole family!


The Cinco de Mayo Loop

A Wilmington tradition to make sure you’re hitting all the greatest stops in Wilmington… Follow the Cinco de Mayo LOOP hosted by Out and About! For anyone attending Wilmington’s City Loops especially this one here’s some things you should know:

  1. People do wear festive outfits so feel free to wear red, green and beads!
  2. Get there early. Lines start before 10 pm.
  3. Get a wristband at the first place you go to and avoid any additional cover charges.
  4. There will now be discounts on Lyft rides for those attending any loop-affiliated bar. There is no “shuttle” simply lyft from bar to bar. (Most are in walking distances)

Just about every restaurant, bar, tavern- you name it -will be buzzing with excitement! Even enjoy a relaxing stroll along the Riverfront walk to see the beautiful sights along the water. There’s no doubt Wilmington is the place to be this weekend for fun and Cinco excitement. For those who aren’t lucky enough to live right here and are planning to drive but getting a ride home – no need to worry about getting towed! Feel totally comforted by the fact that you can leave your car at the”Last Call Lot” provided by the city. These lots are offering free overnight parking until noon the next day and are located at the Riverfront Commuter Lot (Justison St., across from Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant) and Wilm. Parking Authority Surface Lot (Downtown, 8th& Orange streets). This is a complimentary service. You will not receive a parking ticket or be towed. DO NOT DRINK & DRIVE!
