Beer lovers rejoiced this past Labor Day when the Friends of Wilmington Parks hosted a celebration – and abundant sampling! – of craft beer made right here in Delaware. The Friends of Wilmington Parks hosted the educational and recreational event, Delaware: A Craft Beef Story at the Blue Ball Barn at Alapocas Run State Park on September 3rd.

Craft beer historians John Medkeff, Tony Russo and Bob Fuller presented a history of Delaware brewing and a forecast about the future of the hops business to hundreds of First State beer lovers. More than 15 local craft beverage makers, including Dogfish Head Beer, Frozen Toes Brewing, and Bog Oyster Brewing, offered samples all night long. Proceeds will benefit the “Restore the King” initiative and Wilmington State Park’s School Programs Scholarship Fund.
