Over the past several years Wilmington’s Trolley Square has seen an upgrade in eateries. Recently we got Crow Bar, a new restaurant weaving Greek, Mexican, Italian, Argentinian and Spanish flavors throughout an admirable, dinner-only menu.

Andrea and Bryan Sikora, who also own Merchant Bar in downtown Wilmington, and Hearth Kitchen in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, opened Crow Bar late last week.

The reception so far has been enthusiastic, with the food being as much a draw as the drinks.

Crow Bar takes over the 1711 Delaware Ave. space that had formerly been home to the short-lived Oldbanks Craft Bistro, and before that, a WSFS branch and a credit union.

Upscale dining and Trolley Square aren’t often used in the same sentence, although the Italian restaurant Piccolina Toscana in The Rockford Shops off North Dupont Street has been a standard bearer for 28 years.

Still, food lovers have been abuzz since learning the Sikora’s were opening a Trolley Square operation.
