DE.CO is BACK!
Here at It’s Time, we are excited to tour our city as our favorite businesses and communities safely reopen. After months of quarantining, I’m super excited to be able to get back to DE.CO Wilmington (located right in the DuPont Building) to visit their 7 different takeout options and sit at my all time favorite spot, THE BAR (but that’s for another post).
“So how’s safety looking?”
Like most of you, I’ve definitely been nervous about how restaurants are handling safety, so I was super relieved to see that DE.CO is doing everything they need to make sure both their staff and customers are safe! Check out what they’re doing:
- 60% of max capacity allowed at a time.
- Outdoor seating.
- Tables 6 ft. a part.
- Masks required (unless seated at your table).
- Contactless ordering (via QR codes and the TOAST app)
“I’ve heard about this QR code thing, how does it work?”
QR code ordering with your phone is SOOO simple. I’ve used them before but never to actually PLACE an order. I used the camera option on my phone to hover over the QR code for Al Chu’s. Immediately my browser took me to TOAST, the online ordering terminal. Ordering my food was quick, but I did have to plug in my payment info, phone number, and e-mail. I immediately got a receipt through email, and after 15 minutes I got a text to let me know my food was ready. It was so easy to sit and get work done while I waited!
Pro tip: Payment by card is the only payment method, so leave your cash at home if you want to grub.
“What are my dining options?”
There are 7 locations to order from, including: The Pop Up (burgers), Connie’s (chicken and waffles), Phubs (pho and banh mi subs), Pizzeria Bardea (artisan pizza and salad), Spark*d (pastry and coffee), Stu & Sammy’s (delicatessen) and Al Chu’s (sushi). DECO Bar is open 4-7pm for happy hour.
Brief Q&A with General Manager, Mark Barnyak
I got the opportunity to sit down with Mark Barnyak, the GM of both DE.CO and Constitution Yards.
Q: So why is now the best time for DE.CO to re-open?
A: “Now is the time because we are able to add a variety of dining options all in one stop shopping. Delivery service, spacious dining hall and outdoor seating can accommodate all the guest’s needs.
Q: What does this re-opening mean for the city as we navigate COVID?
A: “With the TOAST take-out ordering system, the guest has access to every food vendor in one online spot. Contactless ordering right from your phone enables a clean, safe transaction.”
It’s Time for YOU to come out!
Open Monday-Friday from 11:30-7pm, our community is excited to welcome back downtown’s bustling “go to” for a quick bite and relaxed happy hour. Stay tuned as I jump behind DE.CO Bar to learn a thing or two about crafting the perfect cocktail!
