Your Guide To Pride 2022 in Wilmington, DE!

June is nationally recognized as gay pride month, and Wilmington is ready to show out with support! There are a variety of Pride events for all ages to enjoy this month, as well as causes to support that benefit the LGBTQIA+ community in our city. 
EVENTS: 

Paris Is Burning at Theatre N

WHEN: Saturday, June 11 at 8pm

Paris Is Burning film viewing at Theatre N in Wilmington, Delaware“Shade comes from reading. Reading came first…Reading is the real art form of insult.” This landmark documentary provides a vibrant snapshot of the 1980s through the eyes of New York City’s African American and Latinx Harlem drag ball scene. Made over seven years, Paris Is Burning offers an intimate portrait of rival fashion “houses,” from fierce contests for trophies, to house mothers offering sustenance in a world rampant with homophobia and transphobia, racism, AIDS, and poverty. 

 

Docklands Diva’s Drag Bingo! At Docklands Riverfront

WHEN: Tuesday, June 14 at 7pm

Join Docklands Riverfront and their Drag Diva’s Amerie Jameson-Manchez and Elektra Manchez for another great edition of Bingo. Free to play!

 

Our Night Out Wilmington at Constitution Yards

WHEN: Thursday, June 16, 6-9pm

Our Night Out Wilmington is an LGBTQ+ social group that provides the opportunity for the LGBTQ+ community to gather to network, socialize and simply have fun at different venues across the city. Our Night Out Wilmington is free, and diversity is welcome and encouraged! 

 

Pride Day at Brandywine Zoo

WHEN: Saturday, June 25 10am-4pm

It’s Pride Day with the animals! Wear your pride gear to the zoo for a fun day of educational programming, a scavenger hunt, crafts, other cool activities, and a chance to enter a raffle to win a free prize.

 

Pridezilla at The Queen

Pridezilla at The Queen

WHEN: Sunday, June 26 at 5pm

PRIDEZILLA welcomes a head-turning lineup of the fiercest queens to Wilmington featuring Daya Betty, Jasmine Kennedie and Ariel Versace of Ru Paul’s Drag Race alongside Delco’s favorite comedian Aunt Mary Pat. 10+ local drag performances, unique local vendors and an after-party with DJ Carl Michaels, round out this diva-studded affair.

 

 

 

CAUSES:

Crimson Moon

Crimson Moon Tavern, Wilmington’s only LGBTQ+ Bar and club, suffered a fire back in November of 2021. Since then they have been fundraising to renovate and reopen. While they have begun renovations, they can still use your help! You can contribute to their rebuild fund by venmoing @donalds-crimson! 

 

AIDS Delaware

AIDS Delaware has been serving our community since 1984, working tirelessly to eliminate the spread and stigma of HIV/AIDS, improve the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS, and promote community health through comprehensive and culturally-sensitive services, education programs, and advocacy. Contributing to AIDS Delaware allows thme to broaden their approach to HIV/AIDS case management, mental health and food pantry services, plus prevention, testing and education throughout the state. You can donate here

 

House of Joseph II with The Ministry of Caring

For the many adults diagnosed with AIDS each year in Delaware, dealing with the disease is often complicated by the loss of family or community support. Often family, friends, and caregivers can no longer provide the support needed as the illness progresses. At House of Joseph II, residents live among people who love and care for them. You can contribute to The Ministry of Caring to help support House of Joseph II here
