Vincent Garman is a Real Estate Agent with The Garman Group,  and is this week’s #PeopleOfWilmDE! Read his story below.

“I’m a Delco native, and attended the University of Delaware, where I met my wife Mary Kate, who is a Wilmington Native. We moved to Wilmington in 2015 and have loved living and working in the city ever since! We welcomed our daughter Murphy into the world in 2022 and our second child will join the team this upcoming June!

I lead the Garman Group RE team at Compass with the motto that “At GarmanGroup RE, everyone deserves a home they can be proud of!” In 2021, my team and I opened our office on Delaware Avenue.

Vincent with his wife, Mary Kate, and their daughter Murphy.

Three interesting facts about me are:

1. I was an eater in Wing Bowl 23 hosted by 94WIP!
2. I played lacrosse for the University of Delaware Fightin Blue Hens!
3. I have an El Diablo Burritos tattoo!

My favorite event in Wilmington is the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Loop! My wife’s family runs a party bus and all day event. Since 2016 it has been a tradition that I look forward to every year! In 2020 when the parade was canceled we kept up with the tradition and threw our own party at The Rockford Tavern. I proposed to my wife in front of all of our friends and family! Last year we threw a party at our office. Its just such a fun day! Love when the streets are filled and everyone has on their best St. Patricks Day outfit!

My ideal weekend in Wilmington starts off with a Thursday afternoon Cocktails and Connections at our office! This is our monthly happy hour we host and we love seeing our friends/family/neighbors come out for a good time! Fast forward to a fun Friday in real estate filled with settlements/showings/phone calls during the day, we’ll start Friday night off with happy hour and apps at Trolley Square Oyster House. Following Oyster House we love to walk over to El Diablo and get our orders to go and chill onthe couch for the rest of the night! Saturday morning kicks off with Pickleball and the gym at DuPont Country Club, followed by brunch at Kid Shelleens,  and then back to Oyster House for afternoon happy hour. Finish up Saturday night with a night out at Bardea and a visit to my good friend Antimo DiMeo for fine dining and espresso martinis! Sunday morning we go to church at St. Anns and then out to Grain for brunch and a relaxing walk around the neighborhood, followed by a family dinner at my parents house! Charcoal Pit milkshakes on the way home to top it off!

I continue to choose Wilmington because I hardly ever need a car! I can walk to work every day and easily walk to meet a client for lunch
or dinner. I hardly need to leave my neighborhood, let alone the city in general for anything I need! I love the close knit community that is Wilmington and how everybody knows everybody! In just a few quick years I have a tight knit circle of friends and have met amazing colleagues in the real estate industry. I love how connected a city it is and if you make one friend chances are you have about 10 new ones just one connection away!

I am excited about the food scene in Wilmington. We have a bunch of awesome restaurants in and around the city and they are attracting people from all over the area to visit Wilmington! I am excited to see the push for entrepreneurship in Wilmington. I love seeing guys like my friend Markevis Gideon (NerdItNow) and Mac Macleod (Carvertise) bring eyeballs to Wilmington for good reasons! Mentors like Robert Herrera and Rob Buccini have a vision and definitely put their money where their mouth is when it comes to investing in Wilmington. We are excited for the future! As the city continues to grow, I would love to see a push for larger events to come to Wilmington. We have had a few recently that were cool to have in our own backyard. The PGA Playoffs BMW Championship was a huge success for the city and was pulled off flawlessly!

Overall, I just absolutely love living here and raising my daughter here. Sitting on the front porch and walking into work with her are some of the best moments of my day.

My advice to Wilmingtonians is this: Get out there and meet people! Theres so many awesome Wilmington characters that have an
awesome story to tell. Theres always something to do and an event going on. Don’t be afraid to put yourselves out there!”
