Madeleine Bouchard is the manager of HiLo House Fitness and this week’s #PeopleOfWilmDE. Read her story below.
“I was born and raised in North Wilmington and I grew up in the restaurant industry. Hospitality is definitely my thing; I love to throw parties, cook, and host guests at my house; the kitchen is my favorite room! Find me in the kitchen making cheese boards and filling glasses of Prosecco! Ice cream is also my weakness.

I went to a Catholic school K-8th grade and then went to public school for high school. I then graduated in 2019 with a degree in hotel and restaurant management from the University of Delaware. I’ve volunteered with Sean’s House (Unlocke the Light), Motorcycle Santa, and World Down Syndrome Awareness Day.
After college I wanted to move out to L.A. but the opportunity to work at HiLo House presented itself. I didn’t start teaching fitness until I started at HiLo House 2 years ago! Helping to build and manage HiLo House Fitness from the ground up has become one of my proudest moments living in the city. HiLo has an amazing community that I am so proud and happy to be a part of.
I also love being close to home and having family nearby. I may not live here forever but for now Wilmington is home!
A night out normally for me will start at home with a drink. My favorite drinks to make at home are mules or margaritas (YUM) but after that I enjoy late night dinners at Bardea with my friends or we will go to Crow Bar for a few drinks. I also love going to Tonic Seafood and Steak for their live music. They have music every Friday and Saturday night. Good music, good food, good drinks, and good vibes!
I am so excited that Wilmington is growing! It is so exciting to see new places pop up, new restaurants opening, and more things to do in the area. Advice I would give to people living and working in Wilmington would be to explore, have fun, try new things, and definitely check out HiLo House!”
