Listed below are just some of the many great organizations that you should consider this Giving Tuesday
1. Harper’s Heart – Harper’s Heart is a non-profit organization that aims to create a loving and safe environment for current and expecting mothers to gain access to essentials for their children. Their mission is to help decrease the stress mothers face so they can focus on raising a healthy child! You can get involved by volunteering or donating to their cause. 2. Urban Bike Project – Urban Bike Project is a non-profit community bike shop that brings the joys of biking to the Wilmington residents of all ages! They recently completed a $500,000 renovation to their bike shop located in the historic “police stables” to get more people involved and to put more bikes on the streets of Wilmington! 3. Faithful Friends – Faithful Friends Animal Society is a private, non-profit animal welfare organization with a No Kill Shelter and community veterinary clinic. They help animals find new homes and care for them during the process. They are funded through donations, grants and fees for services. 4. Christina Cultural Arts Center – Christina Cultural Arts Center helps to change the trajectory of a child’s life. They do so by making affordable arts, education, career pathways, gallery exhibitions and live performances accessible to all. They provide the only comprehensive arts and education program in Delaware with a mission to utilize arts education to promote success and positive behavior. 5. I Am My Sister’s Keeper – I Am My Sister’s Keeper helps to build a positive self-image, emotional and mental wellness all while introducing leadership skills through community and sisterhood. 6. All Mutts Matter Foundation – The All Mutts Matter Foundation aims to help dogs, especially senior dogs, who have been displaced by an owner’s sudden deployment, untimely death, illness or other unfortunate situation. All of the dogs are fostered in private homes until their adoptive families are found. No loving pet should be left behind, foster a dog, donate or adopt a dog and learn more here.
7. Kind To Kids Foundation – The Kind To Kids Foundation helps meet the needs of children and teens in foster care, victims of child abuse and neglect, who are affected by the trauma in their lives. 8. Motorcycle Santa – Motorcycle Santa is a community driven non-profit that is based out of WIlmington. They focus on providing for those in need by holding various annual toy drives to bring toys to local children’s hospitals. 9. West Side Grows – Beginning in 2011 residents and stakeholders worked together to develop a 10 year community strategy known as West Side Revitalization Plan. West Side Grows is a coalition of residents, businesses, churches and local leadership working together to transform and strengthen the community.
