Give thanks and give back to your community this season! There are so many opportunities to better Wilmington. Here are some of our favorite organizations to consider contributing to:
Motorcycle Santa– This organization donates gifts to local children’s hospitals, is a large supporter of the Ronald McDonald House of Wilmington, and sponsors families in need throughout the holiday season. You can spread joy by donating toys, cash, or time.
Faithful Friends Animal Society– This organization aims to put a stop to the killings of cats and dogs in shelters. They not only advocate for reform but also run a no-kill shelter and community veterinary clinic. The animals in their care stay with them until they can be placed into loving homes. Animal lovers look into helping out here!
Literacy Delaware– Empowering adults through tutoring, English language acquisition, and advocacy, this organization helps Delawareans realize their potential as community members and productive citizens. You can become a tutor, purchase learning aids, or donate funds to help their mission.
Wilmington Green Box– This program provides at-risk teens with entrepreneurial jobs while supplying urban communities with fresh produce and healthy goods. Accomplishing both of these goals simultaneously aids youth in improving their futures and addresses a shortage of healthy food options.
Parent Heart Watch– This platform helps parents and children who have experienced grief due to cardiac complications to become champions for sudden cardiac arrest awareness. Their education efforts and best practice models have made real differences in the lives of those with cardiovascular disease.

The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation– The B+ Foundation helps kids and their families fight cancer by providing aid for hospital bills, keeping food on the table, and more. They also help kids with cancer to feel special and supported through their B+ Hero program which matches heroes with groups such as fraternities, sororities, sports teams, and student organizations on college campuses.
Urban Bike Project– Urban Bike Project aids Wilmington communities by providing access to bicycles as a healthy, cheap, and practical option for transportation and exercise. Click here for information on how to donate a bike!
Wilmington HOPE Commission– The HOPE Commission tackles a range of initiatives including re-entry court, workforce development, digital literacy, and workforce development to create upward mobility for justice-involved program members. Donate to their efforts here.
All Mutts Matter Foundation– This foundation is a fostering network that aims to provide temporary homes for dogs. The more foster volunteers they have, together, the more dogs they can save. Check out this picture of one of their foster dogs, Raven. She loves treats, hugs, and ear rubs!
Teen Sharp– Teen Sharp prepares talented Latino, Black, and low-income students for prestigious colleges and community leadership. Students in their program have attended Yale University, The University of Chicago, and more!
