Looking for ways to get rid of your Christmas Tree? Wilmington has you covered.

Wilmington has announced a plan to partner with the Delaware Center for Horticulture for a “TreeCycle” event this Saturday.  The city plans to haul away trees on recycle and collection days during January, as well as run a citywide collection day on January 11th.

Beginning January 9th through Friday, January 31st, the Public Works Department will be collecting discarded trees left at your curb on regular recycling and collection days. Starting January 13, recycle collection days will be on Thursday, east of I-95 and Friday, west of I-95.

To get your tree collected you must place it at your curb free of any decorations or lights between 6p.m. the day before collection at 4 a.m. the day of collection. The city will not be collecting any artificial trees.

If these dates don’t work for you, the city will be running a citywide collection event on January 11th. Collection will follow the same procedure, you must leave your tree on the curb between 6p.m. and 4a.m. the day of collection.

We hope everyone had a great Holiday! To learn more about the Delaware Center for Horticulture, check out their website
