The third annual Brandywine River ShadFest will be held on May 20th from 10:00am-3:00pm! The ShadRun 5K will kick off at 9:00am that morning. You can register either as a walker or runner, however spots are limited! Sign up soon!
The festival is a free, family-friendly event hosted by the Brandywine River Restoration Trust in celebration of the river and the return of the American Shad. The Delaware River is an important waterway for the American Shad to travel; it has no dams blocking the way of the fish, therefore allowing them to continue upriver smoothly.
The festival includes free fishing lessons & poles, fish printing for children, a shad obstacle course, music, food, wine and beer! They are expanding the festival this year with more demonstrations such as live cooking, as well as new exhibitors and vendors. There will be a judged art show, developed in partnership with the Delaware Department of Education and Delaware Division of Arts.
