Here’s a full description of the event from Accelerate Delaware:
As children all we aspired to be was an adult. The allure of setting our own bed time, not eating our vegetables, driving our own cars and generally doing things our way made adulthood look glamorous. However, upon arrival to this coveted destination we found that being an adult, or ‘adulting’ is not at all what it appeared to be. In fact some of the very things we used to take for granted, we now covet – naps, recess, being chauffeured, sleeping in, getting a tax-free weekly allowance, having someone else cook all of our meals.
This ‘adulting’ thing comes sans handbook and with plenty of responsibility, uncertainty and stumbling blocks. Through the TED brand’s signature “ideas worth sharing”, the TEDx WilmingtonSalon Adulting 101, brought to you by Accelerate Delaware, aims to help young professionals address the transitions that take place as we move from college to career and from early to mid- adulthood.
This TEDxWilmington Salon will feature talks that address finding your purpose; aligning your passion and purpose to a career; navigating personal finances including student loans; funding your entrepreneurial vision, and bridging generational gaps in the workplace.
Speakers include millennial leaders who specialize in helping today’s biggest generation of workers (millennials) become the greatest generation of leaders, career maturation for emerging leaders, and a renowned plastic surgeon who helps women embrace and preserve the pretty within themselves.
