The IRC x Wilmington series is a formation of dinners and experiences intended to benefit restaurants and bars around the country. The Buccini/Pollin Group (BPG), Chef Tyler Akin, Mayor Mike Purzycki, and Wilmington’s independent restaurants joined the Independent Restaurant Coalition (IRC) on the series. Featuring top chefs from around the world, the series raised $100,000 to benefit the IRC’s mission of supporting independent restaurants. The project was largely designed by Wilmington resident Tyler Akin, chef-partner of Le Cavalier at the HOTEL DU PONT, and founding IRC board member. Chefs featured included:

Along with chefs from local restaurants such as:

Akin was quoted as saying, “As a board member of the IRC, I’m intimately aware of what $100,000 can do and for that, I am so grateful to the participating chefs who generously shared their time and talent with us”.

A main objective of the IRC was replenishing the Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF). The Senate failed to pass funding to the RRF in May, which left almost 200,000 restaurants without the funding that they needed after COVID-19.

The Buccini/Pollin Group has invested a growing $1.6 billion into independent restaurants, music venues, and more in Downtown Wilmington. This has aided Wilmington’s dining scene in becoming one of the most complete and prestigious in the area. Rob Buccini, Co-Founder and Co-President of BPG said “My partners and I are so honored to be involved with the IRC x Wilmington project, which shed a light on the need to support restaurants nationally, in addition to locally”. The IRC x Wilmington series was supported by Chase, Doordash, HOTEL DU PONT, Ouro Wines, San Pellegrino, and Standard Distributing along with the host restaurants including Bardea, La Fia, and Le Cavalier.
