Want to do good and have fun? Head out to Spotlight, An Evening of the Arts, a fundraiser for the Delaware Institute for the Arts in Education on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at the Queen. During the event, DiAE will honor the Twin Poets, Delaware State Representative Nnamdi Chukwuocha and Al Mills, 17th Poet Laureates.
The evening will feature a wide range of local talent. Listen to West African Drumming while watching dance performances by artists Tony Vacca, Abdou Sarr and Massamba Diop who is featured throughout the Academy Award-winning score for Marvel’s Black Panther. Students from Warner Elementary School in Wilmington will share the stage with the performers too.
A V.I.P. pre-party kicks of the evening at 5:30 p.m. with delicious food, a cash bar, and the opportunity to engage with percussionist and DiAE teaching artist Jason Keller of J.K. Percussion.

DIAE is a non-profit arts organization based in Wilmington whose mission is to enhance the quality of education by integrating multicultural arts experiences into the daily curriculum of Delaware schools. Their goal is to engage students in all subjects by using the arts to foster a love of learning while promoting cultural awareness and respect as well as enhancing creativity and critical thinking skills.
