Being rejected time and time again can cause some people to give up on a dream. For people like Wilmington artist Geraldo Gonzalez, it drives him to keep going.
Eight years ago, a neighbor suggested he check out Creative Visions Factory, an organization that provides opportunities for self-expression, empowerment, and recovery through the arts for individuals on the behavioral health spectrum. Members are free to pursue a wide array of visual, literary and performing arts.
For Geraldo Gonzalez, the art studio gave him the support he needed to create vibrant images of trains, planes, cars, and even sports figures.
This past month, he was one of the highlights of the monthly Art Loop. The University of Delaware recently bought four of his works to keep on campus. Most importantly, Geraldo was one of the artists to receive a Fellowship from the Delaware Division of the Arts.
