EXPLOSIONS WALKING TOUR

Saturday, November 5, 2016  |   11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

This new walking tour tells remarkable stories of black powder explosions that occurred when Hagley was a gunpowder manufactory and the men and women whose lives were changed as a result. Tour involves walking on uneven ground. Included in admission and free for members.  Reservations requested, call (302) 658-2400, ext. 261. Use Hagley’s main entrance off Route 141 in Wilmington, Delaware.

WHAT’S FOR DINNER? A TALE OF TWO GARDENS WALKING TOUR
Sunday, November 6, 2016  |   1 p.m.

Dig into two very different gardens – one fed the du Pont family and the other DuPont Company workers in the nineteenth century. This tour explores the socioeconomic factors influencing the architecture, produce, and the philosophies of each garden. Tour involves walking on uneven ground. Included in admission and free for members.

SCIENCE SATURDAY: INVENTION CONVENTION SNEAK PEEK
Saturday, November 12, 2016  |   1 to 4 p.m.
CATEGORY: FAMILY PROGRAMS, SCIENCE SATURDAYS

Visitors are invited to solve science mysteries and engineering challenges. Get a sneak peek at activities for Invention Convention 2017. Activities are included in admission and free to members. This is a drop-in activity, feel free to join the fun at any time from 1 to 4 p.m.

SIGHTS, SOUNDS, AND SMELLS WALKING TOUR

November 12 & 26, 2016  |   11 a.m. and 2 p.m.   |  Saturday’s

Visitors experience an in-depth, hands-on tour focused on gunpowder production in the Hagley Powder Yard and visit production areas rarely seen by guests. This tour ends with an explosive finish. Tour involves walking on uneven ground. Included in admission and free for members. Reservations requested, call (302) 658-2400, ext. 261. Use Hagley’s main entrance off Route 141 in Wilmington, Delaware. This is a Let’s Move! event.

H2 OH! WALKING TOUR

November 13 & 20, 2016  |   1 p.m.   |  Sunday’s

Learn about DuPont Company’s development of water power from the waterwheel to the steam engine and how its innovation contributed to the success of the company. This hands-on tour includes commentary on Hagley’s restored water turbine.

THANKSGIVING WEEKEND AT HAGLEY
November 25, 26, 27, 2016  |   10 a.m. to 4 p.m.   |  Friday, Saturday, & Sunday
Bring your family and out-of-town guests to enjoy activities, crafts, and games. Sample historic holiday dishes inspired by nineteenth-century recipes from “The Hagley Cookbook,” play hide-the-thimble and other parlor games, and dress up in nineteenth-century clothes for a picture-perfect memory. Included in admission and free for members. Use Hagley’s main entrance off Route 141 in Wilmington, Delaware.
