Friends of Wilmington Parks and Gable Music Ventures are hosting the first LADYBUG RELEASE PARTY in the Jasper Crane Rose Garden!
Ladybugs are beneficial insects that can consume up to 50 to 60 aphids per day (aphids are a nasty pest of rose shrubs) but will also eat a variety of other insects and larvae including scales, mealy bugs, leafhoppers, mites, and various types of soft-bodied insects. The ladybug is also Delaware’s state bug.
But there’s more: The final musician and visual artist lineups will be announced for:
* 9 Free Summer concerts in Rockford Park (Mondays, 6:30 – 8)
* 10 Free Summer Concerts at the Sugar Bowl Pavilion in Brandywine Park (Wednesdays, 6:30 – 8)
* 4 Foodie Fridays at the Blue Ball Barn in Alapocas Run State Park
And there’s more: The upcoming 11th Annual Jasper Crane Rose Garden Party on Thursday, June 7th, will be previewed.
And there’s more: Gable Music Ventures will also be announcing their lineup for this summer’s Ladybug Festival, a celebration of women in music that takes place in downtown Wilmington annually in July. The all-female event has quickly become one of the largest of its kind in the country both in the number of performers (75 in 2017) and in attendance (10,000 in 2017 according to Downtown Visions).
Event organizers Gable Music Ventures will be on hand and will have a free “Little Ladybug” t-shirt for the first 50 children under 12 that arrive to release ladybugs! The T-shirts are promoting the new children’s music happening during the festival this year inside of the Delaware History Museum. In addition to giving out the shirts, attendees will receive a limited edition “Ladybug Release” promotional postcard announcing the first artists that have been confirmed for this year’s lineup.
Join us for a fun evening in the Rose Garden for this children-friendly event as we release thousands of Lady Bugs! The first 50 children will get a free, very cool Ladybug Release Party T-shirt!
